Counseling for Trauma

While many people recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends, the journey can be more challenging for others.  If you are struggling to cope in the aftermath of a traumatic experience, therapy can help you process and reframe the trauma.

I often use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in the treatment of PTSD.  This well-researched, evidenced-based approach examines the impact a traumatic event has had on your life and helps you change unhelpful thoughts and feelings related to the event.  An essential part of treatment involves addressing thought patterns that might keep you “stuck” and hinder recovery from PTSD and other issues.   CPT has proven effective across various populations and trauma types, whether it’s a single traumatic event or more complex trauma history.

I have completed advanced training in CPT and am a rostered CPT provider.  In addition to CPT, we may choose to use additional treatment approaches including grounding skills, mindfulness techniques, relaxation training, or strategies to treat concurrent problems such as depression or anxiety.

Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to support your healing journey.
