While many people recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends, the journey can be more challenging for others. If you are struggling to cope in the aftermath of a traumatic experience, therapy can help you process and reframe the trauma.
I have specialized training in two evidence-based treatment approaches for trauma:
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): This well-researched, effective treatment approach examines the impact a traumatic event has had on your life and helps you change unhelpful thoughts and feelings related to the event. An essential part of treatment involves addressing thought patterns that might keep you “stuck” and hinder recovery from PTSD and other issues. CPT has proven effective across various populations and trauma types, whether it’s a single traumatic event or more complex trauma history.
I have completed advanced training in CPT and am a rostered CPT provider.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): This treatment modality is a powerful, research-backed approach that helps people process and heal from past traumas, distressing memories, and emotional wounds. Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR allows the brain to reprocess painful experiences in a way that reduces emotional distress and fosters resilience. It’s an effective therapy for trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and more—helping you move forward with greater clarity and peace.
In addition to CPT or EMDR, we may choose to use additional treatment approaches including grounding skills, mindfulness techniques, relaxation training, or strategies to treat concurrent problems such as depression or anxiety.
Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to support your healing journey.
